I think that the phenomenon that grammar is often overemphasized is not only in Japan ,and also not only in English study .In China,at my age,we almost have English class from Middle Schoole ,we mainly study it for examination ,which is just writing and listening ,so we had to focus on grammer . Even though we knew that grammer can be ignored if only we can communicate with others .But nowadays children even from kindergarten,it's really a good thing ,they can be used to it ,I believe .
To be used to a language ,we should not only study it for study but also for fun .For example ,watch movies is a good way to learn language.And it also important to speak as much as you can ,and don't be afriad of making mistakes.

You did this just as I suggested in my blog. Thanks. Perhaps, though, when all of the words you discuss come from the same essay, it is not necessary to include the "Where" information for each word.
You mentioned using movies to study English. I think that's a great idea. DVDs are particularly useful because you can set the subtitles to English. Also, there are books that contain all of the dialogue for certain movies that one can refer to while enjoying the drama.
