You are doing very well but it was difficult for me to understand your question because you did not include the context. Here is the sentence that confused you: "In the captain's room I found two good guns with a bag of shot and a powderhorn." I can imagine what this means but instead of merely explaining the answer I would like to try to help you learn how to answer questions like this one on your own. I assume that you could not find "powerdhorn" in the Longman dictionary. I searched on the following site:

http://dictionary.reference.com/

When I searched for "powderhorn" I could not find an appropriate definition. However, when I searched for "powder horn" I found the following:

============
a powder flask made from the horn of a cow or ox.
============

The phrase "powder flask" may be difficult for you to understand in this context. If you search for "powder flask" on same web site, you will find "a small flask of gunpowder formerly carried by soldiers and hunters."

Keep up the good work!
