I just don't understand the meaning of "fill the first chest"


Does it mean that begain to eat ?

Thank you for your very good question. The reason that this is difficult for your to understand is that, in this context, "chest" refers to a large box into which things can be put. Here is the definition of chest from the Longman dictionary:

a large strong box that you use to store things in or to move your personal possessions from one place to another:
"a large wooden chest"
