I BUILD ME A CASTLE

Where:Robinson Crusoe for Children I BUILD ME A CASTLE



Fort

Context:I must build me a little fort or castle.


Definition:a strong building or a place with a wall or fence around it where soldiers can stay

and be safe from the enemy



Cliff

Context: It was, indeed, a green field, or plain, with steep cliff rising up behind it.


Definition:a high area of land with a very steep side ,especially next to the sea



Break/Opening

Context:At one place on the side of the great rock there was a break, or opening, like the door

to a cave.


Definition:a hole or empty space through which air ,light ,things ,or people can pass.

Inclose
Context:The space which it inclosed was about thirty feet across.

Definition:surround an object or an area whit something solid so that it is separated from
everything that is outside .
The parcel was inclosed in something clear and shiny .

Stake
Context:In this half circle I set up two rows of strong stakes, driving them deep into the
ground.

Definition:a pointed piece of wood or mental which is pushed into the ground and used for
example to support a young tree or as part of fence .

Twine
Context:Among these I twined the slender branches of trees and long grapevines that I found
in the woods.

Definition:twiste something around something else or winds it around something
She would twine her fingers in locks of his hair .

Cleft/Crack
Context:It was, indeed, a large cleft or crack, filled only with earth and small stones.

Definition:a very narrow gap between two objects or surfaces.

Pile up
Context: I carried them out through my tent and piled them up along the inside of my wall.

Definition:put a quantity of things somewhere they accumulate somewhere ,forming a pile .
All her possessions were piled up there .

I find that this semester will be over soon ,and I haven't finished reading this story ,maybe I'm too slowly .I will read it more quickly .

It's a long story. I think you have made very good progress. Perhaps you can get through the book more quickly if you just listen to it instead of reading it. When you listen, you may find that you can understand the story without looking up many words. I think this is also a good way to study.

Thanks for your advice .
But,even though I can understand it without looking up many words ,I still want to keep the words I don't know in my blog .
